Whole School Commitment to Young Carers

Learning Partnership West is committed to developing our provision for young carers and their families.

We endeavour to continue the development of our approach, building on the evolving needs of our young people, through the continuous evaluation and development of our practice.

How we will achieve this:

  • The whole school is committed to meeting the needs of young carers so that they can attend and enjoy school in the same way as their peers, allowing them to achieve their potential.

  • Appointing a designated Young Carer’s School Lead with responsibility for young carers and their families, including access to support.

  • The school only shares information with professionals and agencies on a need to know basis in order to support the young people and their families.

  • The school actively seeks feedback and ideas from young carers and their families to shape and improve support.

  • The school has an effective referral system and strong partnerships in place with relevant external agencies.

  • The staff attend regular CPD training to help inform best practices.

We strive to achieve best practice for young people and their families in our school, in order to provide them with the best chance of success within LPW and for their futures.
