Safeguarding at LPW

At LPW, safeguarding is an embedded, whole-school practice. Pupils thrive when they feel safe, valued and supported, and we are proud to foster a caring community built on trust and respect.

Our commitment

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — every adult in our community has a part to play.

  • We offer help and support as soon as it’s needed, so small concerns don’t become big problems.

  • We are committed to protecting children from harm at home, in school and online.

  • We prioritise mental and physical wellbeing, so nothing gets in the way of learning and development.

  • We work to ensure every pupil feels secure, valued and respected every day.

Safeguarding is broader than child protection. Our whole-school approach spans mental health and wellbeing, online safety, anti-bullying, safer recruitment, site security and educational visits. Multiple teams across LPW work together to ensure our pupils are protected and supported.

What safeguarding looks like at LPW

  • Early help: Swift, proportionate support for pupils and families, with signposting to specialist services where appropriate.

  • Culture of vigilance: Clear expectations that all concerns — big or small — are noticed, recorded and acted upon.

  • Staff training: Regular, role-appropriate safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers, with induction for new starters.

  • Safer recruitment: Robust checks and procedures ensure only suitable people work with our pupils.

  • Curriculum & ethos: Teaching that builds resilience, respectful relationships, and digital literacy.

  • Online safety: Education, filtering/monitoring, guidance for parents/carers, and age-appropriate controls.

  • Mental health & wellbeing: Proactive support, supervision, and trauma-informed practice.

  • Anti-bullying: Clear reporting routes, restorative approaches, and consistent follow-up.

  • Site security & visits: Risk assessments, supervision ratios, and trip/visitor protocols.

  • Record-keeping & information sharing: Timely, confidential and compliant with statutory guidance.
