The LPW curriculum is developed in collaboration with:
Parents/carers, who are regularly informed and involved in their child’s education. Many of our parents/carers have their own needs and traumas around school. We communicate through text/letters/emails/phone calls but we also conduct regular home visits. The role of the Key Worker ensures that parents and carers are constantly in contact with someone from the school.
Our Head of Safeguarding posts demonstrates our commitment to wider stakeholder engagement. Local authorities and social care teams work with us regularly. We also work closely with third sector organisations to support curriculum development who provide us with up to date knowledge on areas such as a drugs, sex and relationships and mental health practices.
Employers and education providers, support us to develop improved employability skills and clear progression pathways. Termly meetings and strong transitions to support learners leaving LPW ensures that we can reflect on our curriculum to ensure we are teaching the right skills for life beyond school.
Learner and staff voice is vital to all that we do. Termly school councils held by the Head teacher and regular surveys/focus groups support school business. “You said, We did” demonstrates the action the school take towards listening to everyone and is published termly.
Stakeholder engagement
At LPW, we believe education is strongest when schools, families and communities work together. That’s why we are proud to partner with a wide range of local organisations and services who help us support every aspect of our pupils’ development.
Our key stakeholders include:
Bristol Drugs Project (BDP): providing education, support and guidance around substance misuse.
Barnardo’s: offering safeguarding, family support and specialist services for young people.
Talk Speech & Language Therapy: helping pupils to develop communication and language skills.
The Wheels Project: engaging students through practical, hands-on vehicle maintenance and skills workshops.
Brook: delivering high-quality health and wellbeing education, including relationships and sexual health.
Young Bristol: offering outdoor education, sports, and youth programmes to build confidence and life skills.
Empire Fighting Chance: using non-contact boxing and mentoring to support mental health, resilience and positive behaviour.
Bristol City Council: working with us on safeguarding, SEND, attendance and wider education services.
Together, these partnerships enable us to provide wraparound support that goes far beyond the classroom, helping our students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
